Archbishop Dennis Schnurr risks complete loss of moral authority if he does not completely remove Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Binzer and Chancellor Fr. Steven Angi from Ministry and their positions in the Archdiocese. They both admittedly knew about Fr. Geoff Drew’s homosexual, predatory behavior and concealed information for 6 years and 4 years respectively placing young males around him at risk. It is time to take a hard look at the homosexual problem in the priesthood here in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The sad reality is that Archbishop Schnurr must immediately investigate and remove ALL priests from ministry who are active homosexuals. Thankfully, there are many holy Priests here to carry the Church forward and who embrace the sacrifice of celibacy in their holy vocations. We are so grateful for them. For the sake of all souls striving to live the Catholic Faith, parents trying to raise their children in the Faith and non-Catholics who are also scandalized by this ongoing, unattended crisis, it is time to move past the poisonous era of former Archbishops Bernadine and Pilarczyk and embrace the fullness of Church teaching once again. Catholics across the Archdiocese stand in solidarity with the parishioners at St. Max and St Ignatius in their justifiable anger and outrage at this situation. If Archbishop Schnurr does not embrace his duty as Shepherd of souls and make this change, he, too, should be replaced. I pray he acts quickly and decisively to protect our children and our Church. We, as, Catholics were confirmed to stand up and defend the Catholic Church and Her timeless, unchanging teachings, not the bad and impudent decisions of those in leadership positions who fail to do so.
